Doug grew up in Western Colorado, riding motorcycles, mountain bikes, climbing and exploring the desert. He went on to graduate from Colorado Mesa University with a degree in Biology. He then spent 5 years in Alaska working as an environmental chemist and petroleum researcher while actively participating in the rugby community. After being offered a position teaching paragliding, he moved to Cashmere WA to pursue his passion and run Airplay, one of the largest paragliding schools in the country. For 14 years, Doug taught hundreds of students to fly, host the US Paragliding World Cup and served as the safety director for the US hang-gliding and paragliding association. He made the decision at 46 to hang up his wing professionally and pick up a stethoscope, attending the University of Washington, MEDEX. As an EMT in Leavenworth, Doug became intimately familiar with trauma, sickness, caring for community and making lifelong local connections. This, plus meeting his wife Addy and son Joey was all it took to call Wenatchee home. Doug began working internal medicine after PA school, travelled to New York to work in a COVID unit during the height of the pandemic and returned to Wenatchee to transition to urgent care medicine. He has long held a passion for men’s health, staying active and fit, and maintaining community.
